Description: In 1912, the Railroad Commission required all steam, electric, street and switching railroads to submit detailed, notarized maps of the location of their lines and facilities in California. This series is composed of alignments showing the location of right of way, profiles illustrating track elevation, and station plats locating depots, yards, and other facilities. The maps also provide extremely accurate information on geographic features, ownership of land near railroad lines, and the location of structures near rights of way. This series of aperture cards demonstrates both the attempts to use railways for interurban transportation, leisure and agricultural use along with the submission of the main SP Sacramento station hub.
